In Dedication To The Service Of Col Hugh R. Graff 1918-1993
This site is dedicated to my grandfather, Col (Ret.) Hugh R. Graff. In 1943 he was assigned to the 445th Bomb Group as Group Operations Officer and flew 34 missions, and in 1944 he was appointed Deputy Group Commander. In August of 1944, he was shot down over Ploesti, Rumania and was captured. After a short time as a POW, he led 350 others on a bold escape to Italy.
During his career he earned his Senior Pilot Wings and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross as well as many other decorations. Later in his life, he coauthored, “Flight of the Vulgar Vultures” the history of the 455th Bomb Group.
To show my gratitude and admiration for the sacrifices our service members make, I will donate a portion of each transaction, in my client’s name, to the Air Force Aid Society.
